Mutant Salon, in partnership with Collective Dean of USC Roski School of Fine Arts presents Beautython II, an art & music event celebrating Mutant Salon’s public opening.
Mutant Salon started this fall in the studio of Young Joon Kwak, given to her as part of USC’s MFA program in the Graduate Fine Arts Building. Part beauty salon, art studio, and exhibition and performance venue, Mutant Salon is a space for producing and unraveling ideas of beauty and transformation. For Beautython II, Kwak is bringing Mutant Salon from her studio into the Graduate Fine Arts Building’s 2,000 sq. ft. art gallery.
Kwak will display video, sculpture, installation, and collaborative artworks at Mutant Salon, where attendees will be offered beauty makeovers—including hair, nail, and makeup treatments, fashion styling, tarot readings, tattoos, and more. Mutant Salon’s team of artists will work together to create a highly personalized package of treatments that will make you rethink and rediscover your relationship to beauty, and make you over like never before. Beautython II will close with a music performance program featuring:
